Crystal Palace, AFC Bournemouth and Everton are looking at the possibility of signing James Rodríguez in the summer.
That’s according to journalist Christian Martin, who told El Futbolero’s Youtube channel, relayed by AS in Colombia, the Premier League trio are among the 31-year-old’s suitors.
The attacking midfielder joined Olympiacos last September and his contract with them was terminated last month. This means Palace, Bournemouth, Everton or any other club can take him for free in the next window.
Rodríguez is currently training in Madrid, waiting to find out his next club. The journalist states the ‘doors of the Premier League would be open’ for the former Everton man, who is keen to continue his adventure in Europe.
Martin also makes it clear the Eagles, Bournemouth and Roberto De Zerbi’s side have only tried to find out about the conditions in which they could potentially sign the player.
“We understand that he prioritises continuing in European football,” he said.
“Could it be England? We understand that yes, there is a possibility that clubs like Crystal Palace, Bournemouth or even Brighton itself, who are not used to making this type of signing, at least find out the conditions in which the Colombian could arrive.
“The English clubs have the money, the greats of Scotland too. No one would be deprived of at least evaluating the possibility of bringing James to the UK. From our sources, the inquiries have been, through intermediaries, from Crystal Palace, by Bournemouth, from Everton themselves.”
Rodríguez spent over a year at Everton when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge at Goodison Park during the 2020/21 season. He managed six goals and nine assists before leaving them for Al-Rayyan in 2021.
