One of the big surprises of this year’s Ligue 1 campaign to date, Lorient have a few players to thank for their good form.
One of those is Terem Moffi, their big striker up top, whose 10 goals in 14 games in the league this campaign have caught the attention of Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion.
This is according to Jeunes Footeux, who explain the Eagles, Villans and Seagulls are among many clubs who are following the 23-year-old Nigerian.
Signed from KV Kortrijk back in 2020, the international boasts 33 goals in 86 appearances for the French club, and it’s that tally, as well as his form this season, that is attracting Crystal Palace, Brighton and Aston Villa, with the latter also liking what Lyon’s Moussa Dembélé have to offer.
Unai Emery wants a new striker at Villa Park in January, and while no one concrete has come forward as a main target, surveying the Ligue 1 market could go a long way for a cheap deal.
As for Crystal Palace, it’s no surprise to see them looking in France with Patrick Vieira at their helm, while Brighton are known for snapping up young talent.
However, they all face competition from Borussia Mönchengladbach, who know they will lose Marcus Thuram either in January for a fee or next summer on a free.
As for the price, it’s made clear that Moffi ‘shouldn’t be held back at the end of the season if faced with a nice offer, especially if he doesn’t renew’.
Jeunes Footeux suggest €20m as a starting point, although with just one year left on his deal at that point, perhaps Crystal Palace, Aston Villa or Brighton could negotiate something lower.
