With Coventry City star Viktor Gyökeres becoming Sporting’s number one target for the summer window, the Portuguese media continues to feature daily updates on that pursuit.
We actually get to see a couple of interesting stories today, as the Lions are said to be completely focused on landing the 25-year-old.
Newspaper Record features a piece claiming Sporting are using ‘all their energy’ to get Gyökeres signed, and club director Hugo Viana froze all the other transfers just to focus on the Coventry City striker.
The Championship side continue to demand at least €20m, and could probably get that from the Premier League sides who are interested in him. Sporting, meanwhile, try to get a discount and work to convince all parties involved that they’re the best option for his career.
Meanwhile, newspaper Correio da Manhã has a story claiming Gyökeres is ‘getting desperate’ with the demands made by Coventry City.
It’s said the requests are ‘delaying’ his move to Sporting, and the ‘tough negotiations’ are ‘affecting the striker on a mental level’, as he waits for the clubs to find an agreement.
Correio da Manhã claims Coventry City have been pushing for a bigger price, and Gyökeres is starting to get ‘revolted’ against the club, as he ‘had the promise’ he could leave this summer.
