Göteborgs Atlet- och Idrottssällskap goalkeeper Kees Sims has emerged as a target for Coventry City for the summer window.

That’s at least what Fotboll Direkt are reporting, and they cover Coventry City’s interest in the 22-year-old.

Sims joined the Swedish club, also known as Gais, in January 2024 and kept a clean sheet and conceded 11 goals from nine games last year.

The stopper made three league starts this year, keeping a clean sheet and conceding four goals in the process. His performances this season have seen a few Championship clubs, including Coventry City, take notice.

According to the report, Frank Lampard’s side and other unnamed clubs are ‘impressed’ by his ‘aggressive style’ and quick reflexes.

The Sky Blues and a few others have already followed the New Zealand U23 international. Fotboll Direkt add the interested parties, including Coventry City, will send officials to take a closer look at him in action for Gais.

Sims, as per the report, has a British passport. That should make it easier for Coventry City if they were to sign him.

Leicester City had previously looked at the goalkeeper, who has a contract lasting until December 2028.
