Everton will need to drop “€6-7m” from their asking price for Jarrad Branthwaite if he is to end up back at PSV Eindhoven this summer.
That’s according to journalist Rik Elfrink, who says the Toffees have completely priced the Dutch side out of a permanent moved for the defender.
Branthwaite has spent this season on loan with the Eredivisie side and, after a slow start, established himself as a key player under Ruud van Nistelrooy across the campaign.
He’s earned plenty of admirers with his performances in the Netherlands and PSV are keen to keep him on a permanent basis if they can.
So far, though, Everton have proved unwilling to do a deal for the defender, setting their asking price too high for the Dutch side to consider a move viable.
That has led to increasing reports that Branthwaite will be heading back to Goodison Park this summer, despite the youngster admitting publicly that he’d be more than happy to stay in Eindhoven long-term.
Elfrink has now explained the situation from PSV’s side and says there would have to be a major reduction in asking price from Everton for anything to happen.
“Yes, he should cost €13.5 million. That’s not in the cards unless Everton drop €6-7m. I don’t think he will come back,” he told the AD Voetbalpodcast.
