Despite claims elsewhere that it’s all agreed, Sunday’s edition of Portuguese newspaper A Bola insists Bill Foley and his Black Knights Sports Group haven’t yet secured control of Moreirense.

The Bournemouth owner has been very keen to add a Portuguese club to his portfolio. Foley sees it as a way to bring talents over from Brazil who he can them presumably send to Bournemouth or make a profit on. It should also help open up the wider South America market, with Portugal’s top clubs having a long record of bringing over talents and developing them. Of course, Portugal isn’t lacking in football talent either.

Moreirense currently find themselves 11th in Liga Portugal. Their biggest success is winning the Taca de Liga (Portuguese league cup) in 2017 and they’ve won the second division title multiple times.

Eight of their current squad are Brazilian, which may have helped catch the interest of Bournemouth’s owner.

A Bola report ‘conversations continue’ to agree a deal, and they state the negotiation is not yet finalised.
