On Wednesday, Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos revealed that his client is open to signing a new deal at Arsenal and is waiting for a call from the Premier League side.
The agent has also opened the door to return to Serie A and urged Juventus to call him if they are keen on signing the 32-year-old.
Tuttosport take a look at the chances of the Arsenal midfielder ending up at the Turin club in the next window.
The Brazil-born Italy international’s deal lasts until the end of this season, with an option for another year. The Gunners haven’t exercised it as of now, meaning Jorginho can leave as a free agent in the summer.
Juve technical director Cristiano Giuntoli knows the player well from their time at Napoli and the report states he ‘received a call’ from Jorginho a ‘few weeks ago’.
Giuntoli’s idea is to look at younger and less-known players to build a low-cost team. On the other hand, they would also need an experienced player, to help the youngsters and the team.
In this sense, Tuttosport say the Arsenal player ‘could be the right man’ for Juve, similar to what they did when they signed Andrea Pirlo for free in 2011.
The problem for the Turin club is the salary and Guintoli didn’t offer more than €3m per year to 31-year-old Felipe Anderson, mainly because of age. Jorginho is a year older and may have to take a pay cut if he wants to join the Old Lady.
Tuttosport state the Arsenal midfielder ‘continues to send messages, direct and indirect’, likely to Giuntoli and Juventus, through his agent, to secure a summer deal.
