In Gazzetta dello Sport’s eyes, Edin Dzeko to Chelsea is all but a done deal, with the newspaper claiming it would be ‘very difficult’ for the Bosnian’s transfer to Stamford Bridge to fall through.

Everything happened yesterday, with the former Manchester City striker saying yes to the move to London after his agent, Irfan Redzepagic, met with the Blues’ emissaries in Rome.

As has been explained elsewhere, Dzeko was said to be initially ‘perplexed’ at Roma’s decision to transfer him, having recently bought a house in the city, showing his dedication to stay in Italy for the remainder of his contract.

However, a phone call with Antonio Conte, chats with his wife, his sister Merima (which could explain the ‘suitcase picture’ everyone is talking about) and the prospect of returning to the Premier League eventually changed his mind.

As did Chelsea’s offer of a €4.5m/year + bonuses contract until 2021.

While talks are still ongoing between the two sides, mostly regarding the fine details of his transfer and that of Emerson Palmieri, neither of the two players are expected to be part of the group to face Sampdoria on Wednesday.

And just in case you wanted more than one source, just to be sure, Il Tempo on Tuesday also run a similar story, with the headline ‘Roma-Chelsea, all done for Dzeko’, while Il Messaggero state the Bosnian is ‘basically a Chelsea player’.
