While everyone appears to be fighting over midfielders these days, Arsenal are rather relaxed in that department, having already signed Declan Rice.
Their next port of call appears to be the sale of some players, with Folarin Balogun among those attracting the most interest.
The Arsenal striker isn’t wanted by Mikel Arteta next season, as has been made clear by his use, or lack of, of him during pre-season, and that’s why Inter Milan still feel there is hope they can get a deal done, according to Corriere dello Sport.
However, the Gunners’ asking price remains high, and the news that they turned down €40m from AS Monaco isn’t what the Italian side wanted to hear.
It’s said that ‘contacts continue’ between Inter Milan and Arsenal for the signing of the USA international, even if the price remains the ‘number one obstacle’.
While that’s the name being pushed by those above the manager, Simone Inzaghi would prefer someone a bit more experienced, like Alvaro Morata, to pair alongside Lisandro Martínez.
In short, Inter still want Arsenal’s Balogun, but they will have to find more money from somewhere to get him, or simply pray that the Gunners’ asking price lowers as the summer goes on.
