Rangers manager Danny Röhl could be on his way out of Ibrox soon.
The 37-year-old joined Rangers in October 2025 following Russell Martin’s short spell at Ibrox.
He’s managed 40 matches for Rangers and helped them finish third in the league this season.
The German’s work with the Scottish Premiership side seems to have convinced Red Bull Salzburg.
Firm interest in Rangers boss
Sky Austria journalist Eric Niederseer took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share an important update on Danny Röhl. He claims the Austrian club have a concrete interest in the Rangers coach.
They are currently without a manager, after parting ways with Daniel Beichler. In their search for a permanent manager, Red Bull Salzburg have set their sights on Ibrox.
Niederseer claims Red Bull Salzburg have made advances and are in direct contact with Rangers.
Online, Sky Sport in Austria add the talks between the two clubs are to ‘find a solution’ for the 37-year-old. This would indicate Rangers face losing their manager soon.
Both the journalist and the outlet make no mention whether he’s open to leaving Rangers for Red Bull Salzburg.
His contract at Rangers is until 2028 and last month, he said there’s no release clause in his contract. Therefore, Red Bull Salzburg have to negotiate a fee to acquire to take him away from Rangers.
Röhl started as a video analyst for RB Leipzig’s youth team in October 2010 and was promoted as their assistant manager in July 2011. Since then, he climbed through the ranks before working as Ralf Rangnick’s assistant for Leipzig’s first team.
The German left the Bundesliga side and for the same role at Southampton, Bayern Munich and Germany.
In October 2023, Sheffield Wednesday appointed him as their head coach and left the English club in July 2025. He moved to Ibrox later that year and could be on the move this summer.
A move to Reb Bull Salzburg doesn’t appear an immediate step up, but it’s clear he facnies the Leipzig job in the long term.
