Gustaf Lagerbielke was one of the new players to arrive at Celtic last summer and his decision to join Brendan Rodgers’ side hasn’t worked out well for him.
The defender made five appearances in the first five league games before being left out of the squad by Rodgers for the last three months. Since then, he made an appearance for Celtic in their league win over St. Mirren earlier this month.
Lecce could offer the 23-year-old a move away from Celtic. That’s according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who provides a short update on X, formerly Twitter.
He says the Serie A side have carried out a survey with Brendan Rodgers’ side to sign the centre-back on a loan deal this month.
Gianluca Di Marzio has also shared additional information through his official website, where he claims it’s ‘not easy’ for Lecce to sign the Sweden international because the ‘costs are important’.
The journalist doesn’t make it clear if it’s related to the loan fee, Lagerbielke’s salary or both.
Either way, a move away from Celtic could help the centre-back feature regularly in the second half of this season.
