Pablo Fornals wasn’t able to enjoy regular game time at West Ham United this season and that convinced him to leave them for Real Betis.
The attacking midfielder sealed his move to the La Liga side earlier this month and has made three appearances for them so far, scoring a goal in the process.
Monday’s Diario de Sevilla has a piece suggesting what the former West Ham needs to be able to excel at the Spanish club.
The 27-year-old made his second start for Real Betis against Deportivo Alavés, and played the full 90 minutes, operating on the right wing.
Manuel Pellegrini knows the former Villarreal man from his time at West Ham and will be aware how to use him.
The newspaper states he ‘barely got the ball’ in the first half against Alavés, but was able to form a partnership with right-back Héctor Bellerín in the second half.
It seems that ‘the more contact he has with the ball, the better’ it is for the Andalusian club and the player. The report adds the former West Ham man needs to be in ‘permanent contact’ with the ball to be decisive on the pitch.
Speaking to the club’s official media, relayed by Estadio Deportivo, Fornals says he’s adapted quickly at Real Betis.
“I have felt very comfortable. With Héctor I think that from the first day we have gotten along well in that band, and then with Willy, Chimy or Bakambu. It’s very easy to play with these people. When we polish things and know how everyone is, I think we’re going to have fun,” he said.
