Liverpool loanee Billy Koumetio could be heading back to the club, according to reports from France.

Newspaper La Voix Du Nord today writes that the 21-year-old, who has been on loan at USL Dunkerque, is not with the Ligue 2 side’s squad.

The outlet claims that Koumetio is ‘no longer taking part’ in training sessions with the French club anymore, and ask whether he’s returning to Liverpool.

There’s actually not even an explanation as to why the youngster could be cutting his spell short, as he was supposed to stay there until the end of the season.

While at Dunkerque, Koumetio made nine appearances, and was a starter in a big part of their campaign so far.

So it now remains to be seen whether Liverpool would like to bring the player to their first team squad or if they’re sending him somewhere else.

Koumetio can play as a left-back and a centre-back, and featured in both positions when at Dunkerque.

The 21-year-old joined Liverpool on a move from Orleans back in 2019. He has two appearances for the Reds’ first team, and his contract with the club expires in 2025.
