Leicester City’s Gokhan Inler has apparently rejected two respective Ligue 1 clubs, Lyon and Marseille, as he’s made it clear he wants to join Besiktas. Inler is also the subject of interest from Serie A side Cagliari, and whatever happens in the coming hours he expects to leave the Premier League champions before tomorrow’s deadline.
It’s understood in the Turkish media that Leicester City will allow the 32-year old to leave on free as they want to get him off their wage bill. Inler certainly tops Besiktas’ list, but there are no indications if the Turkish giants will move in for him before the window closes
It’s worth noting that Sinan Engin, very close to Besiktas, said last night on Beyaz Futbol: ”Besiktas will look for other alternatives tomorrow. If they can’t find anything, Inler is ready to join the club.”
However, only yesterday we covered reports from Italy that Inler was set for a move to Cagliari on loan after the Serie A side agreed to pay 40% of the player’s wages. Inler had a successful spell with Napoli, and the move could be ideal for the player.
Inler joined Leicester for €7million last year from Napoli, but couldn’t hold a place down in the starting eleven. As a result, he lost his place to Blerim Dzemaili in the Swiss national team, and he knows he needs to play regularly in order to win back his place.
