Flamengo have accepted Crystal Palace’s bid for the transfer of Matheus França, according to a report from Brazil.
Torcedores journalist Wilson Pimentel writes that following a €40m bid from the Eagles, there are now ‘small details’ for the move to become official.
It’s claimed that Flamengo and Crystal Palace agreed the final points of the transfer on Tuesday night, and the clubs now work to put the agreement on paper.
The sides are reportedly translating the contracts to English, and then that will be signed by Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim, Crystal Palace owner John Textor and Matheus França himself.
It’s said that the player’s staff don’t consider the deal done because the Rio de Janeiro side still try to get 10% of a future sale. So far, they couldn’t convince the Eagles of that.
The transfer is reportedly agreed for €30m up front plus potential €10m in bonuses. Those add-ons are related to goals scored, matches played, titles won and Ballon d’Or standings.
Torcedores is the only outlet reporting the agreement for now. Flamengo get huge, probably the biggest, attention from the Brazilian media, so in case those claims are true, it won’t take long until the news is all over the place.
Journalist Venê Casagrande, who’s one of the most reliable reporters when covering the Rio de Janeiro side, says the club wouldn’t accept Crystal Palace’s latest offer for França, which was still believed to be of €15m plus €5m in bonuses. So we better wait and see.
Especially because the initial request had been said to be just €25m.
