PSV Eindhoven have not bid €17m for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite and any suggestion otherwise is ‘complete nonsense’.

That’s according to journalist Rik Elfrink, who says while PSV are ‘keen to buy’ the defender, they would not do so for such a figure.

According to his information, any such move would be a ‘total contradiction with the current policy’ at the Dutch club, despite their coffers having been bolstered by the big sales of Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke.

Branthwaite is currently on loan with PSV, who he joined in the summer in search of regular playing time that wasn’t on offer at Everton.

He has featured on a semi-regular basis throughout the campaign and made a positive impression, so much so that the Eredivisie side pushed to keep him this month amid rumours his loan could be cut short.

That effort came amid reports they could make an effort to sign the youngster permanently and reports in England today stated a bid had been made.

Elfrink says that is not the case, though, labelling the ‘British story’ of a €17m bid as ‘complete nonsense’ at this moment in time.

Of course, the situation could always change but it seems that there is no plan at PSV to submit any such bid for the Everton defender.
