Arsenal have inquired about PSV Eindhoven youngster Johan Bakayoko but have not taken matters any further than that at present.
That’s according to journalist Rik Elfrink, who says Arsenal have inquired about the forward but that is about it.
Reports in the Netherlands today indicated that Arsenal had made a move for the highly rated youngster, who is expected to leave PSV at some point this summer.
Those reports indicated the Gunners were at the front of the queue for the youngster, who has admirers all over Europe after shining in the Netherlands.
Elfrink picks up on that and explains that while Mikel Arteta’s side have inquired about Bakayoko, it is nothing more than that.
He insists, citing sources involved in the matter, that there is no offer yet and certainly no indication that the Gunners will ‘take action’ on the player.
He also raises the point that the presence of Bukayo Saka at the Emirates would raise questions as to whether Arsenal would be the perfect next step for him in his career.
The journalist adds that it is more likely the player will finish Euro 2024, where he is a part of Domenico Tedesco’s Belgium squad, before there is any progress on a potential transfer for him, to Arsenal or elsewhere.
