AS Roma and Bournemouth remain in negotiations over a deal for defender Matias Viña, despite the Cherries not taking up an option to sign him after his loan deal.
That’s according to Il Romanista, who say ‘work continues’ between the two sides over a possible transfer back to Bournemouth.
Viña spent last season on loan with Andoni Iraola’s side after joining them on loan from Roma in the summer transfer window.
He only ended up making 12 appearances in all competitions and Bournemouth had elected to not take up an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season as a result.
Indeed, a transfer appeared to be off the cards as Bournemouth looked elsewhere for a new left-back, but Il Romanista insist that isn’t the case.
They report that Roma director of football is working hard on various transfer dealings at the Italian club and the sale of Viña is one of them.
‘Work continues with Bournemouth’ for a transfer back to the South Coast and the two clubs are said to be in contact in an attempt to ‘close the negotiation’.
There is no mention of a fee or anything of that nature, although it was stated last month that a potential double deal with Justin Kluivert was on the table.
Obviously, that never happened, and he arrived separately but those talks for Viña haven’t ended and he could end up returning to the Cherries afterall.
