Looking for another attacking piece towards the end of the summer, Leeds United targeted the likes of Bamba Dieng and Cody Gakpo.
However, they ended up with neither, eventually signing Wilfried Gnonto from FC Zürich, but he was more meant to be one for the future.
Before Dieng and Gakpo, the name on their lips was Noa Lang, still at Club Brugge, whom Leeds tried to sign a number of times in the past.
Recently, those rumours have reemerged, with the latest coming earlier this month, with it said the Elland Road side had already indicated they were still interested in the winger.
Lang will be heading to the World Cup with the Netherlands, and a good tournament could see his price soar, but any club interested, like Leeds, should be warned that the player comes with baggage.
This comes courtesy of Wesley Sonck, who commented on 23-year-old to Spores, relayed by Walfoot.
He said: “I find it rather surprising that he was called up to the World Cup. I hope for Lang that he will be at his best during the tournament. It would be good for him, but I think he takes a lot of energy for a manager and bis staff.
“He’s a good footballer, but he does things in a game that aren’t necessary. With this, he doesn’t just annoy the opponent, but also his own teammates on the pitch and the bench. That Neymar does it, fine, but he’s on another level to Lang.”
Whether Leeds take any heed of this in January if they make a move remains to be seen.
