New Besiktas president Serdal Adalı is pushing to sign Paul Onuachu from Southampton, who have placed a €13m asking price on the striker’s head.
That’s according to Fanatik, who report that Adalı is determined to take Onuachu back to Turkey and has started contacts with Southampton to make it happen.
The newspaper reports that Adalı wants to ‘detonate the bomb’ with the signing of Onuachu, who enjoyed a previous loan spell in the country with Trabzonspor.
Adalı has already met with Besiktas officials Serdar Topraktepe, their technical director and captain Necip Uysal to discuss transfers and the future plans for the club.
That saw them star work on transfers to ‘lift the team and excite the community’ and Onuachu is seen as the man to do both.
He’s will to ‘push all the conditions’ to add the Southampton striker to their squad in January and has already received positive replies from the player’s manager.
He will also talk to Southampton about a possible move to work out ‘exchange formulas’, with the Saints initially asking for €13m for any move to take place.
Onuachu, for his part, would be looking forward to playing in Turkey again after struggling at Southampton this season, a continuation of his previous struggles at the club following a big move from Belgium in 2023.
Whether Besiktas are willing to pay what Southampton have initially demanded or want to negotiate them downwards, remains to be seen, but their new president has his sights set on the 30-year-old, nonetheless.
