Southampton defender Romain Perraud is a potential target for Real Betis as they seek a new left-back this summer.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who relay other reports from Spain that say the Southampton man is very much on Betis’ list of options.
The newspaper explains that the Southampton man, who spent last season on loan at Nice, is seen as a player who is ‘within reach’ for the Spanish side thanks to his contract ending next year.
The left-back position is one of the priorities for the Betis management, with the position set to be refreshed following the departures of Juan Miranda and Abner Vinícius.
The club are scouring the market to find replacements and the list is extensive, with the Southampton man one of the names to have ‘come to the fore’ in the last few hours.
His current deal with the Saints expires next summer and that forces the new Premier League side to negotiate a transfer to avoid losing him on a free within a year.
That gives Betis the chance to negotiate downwards and they’re interested in doing so after receiving ‘very good reports’ on the 26-year-old from his loan spell at Nice.
They’ve not exercised an option to sign him permanently and so the opportunity is there for Betis, and he is a name, among several, being considered this summer in the hunt for a new left-back.
