Last week, the Spanish media claimed Wolverhampton Wanderers and Atletico Madrid defender Felipe are struggling to find an economic agreement for the transfer.
It was said that despite Wolves’ wish to have him at the Molineux by January, there were ‘differences’ on the table of negotiations with the centre-back.
It turns out that as the Brazilian media now speaks about this case, they claim the disagreement is actually between the two clubs.
Journalist Jorge Nicola comes up with a story saying São Paulo had been in talks with Atletico Madrid about other players and ended up asking about Felipe. Since his contract expires next summer, they wanted to know if there was any chance he could leave for free before that.
The Colchoneros then claimed there’s an ongoing negotiation with Wolves, but the request they made for the transfer created a ‘distancing’.
The Molineux side also wanted him for free, and with the La Liga side demanding a compensation, that cooled down the talks.
São Paulo, however, didn’t get excited with those talks anyway. First because of the cost of the transfer, then due to his priority of rejoining Corinthians in case he returns to Brazil.
