Borussia Dortmund’s ‘big fuss’ over signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United in January is yet to pay off, with the player facing a ‘creative crisis’ at this moment in time.
That’s according to WAZ, who cover the player today and why his loan return from Manchester United is currently not going to plan.
They say the loan deal is ‘not working yet’ despite a positive start to the deal and the German club having ‘made a big fuss’ about the deal.
He was happy to play along with that and made it clear how happy he was to be back after his difficult time at Manchester United, with the positivity only growing when he picked up assists in his first two games.
He still ‘lacks match practice, self-image, penetrations and timing’ while also having had to deal with muscle problems.
The deal simply isn’t working out as hoped, with the problem exacerbated by the fact he’s found himself playing in a Dortmund team that isn’t functioning well enough to ‘give him security’.
The big question is how they deal with the Manchester United man, particularly as they don’t have the time to simply give him room and indeed time to develop and find his feet.
The positive news is that Sancho is ‘relieved of the pressure’ as he was only signed as a back up option thanks to injuries anyway and with the likes of Donyell Malen and Karim Adeyemi returning, the pressure will be off.
That, coupled with a potential move into playing as a number ten could maybe see his smile return soon, but for now the loan deal isn’t working out and the ‘big fuss’ Dortmund made over him initially seems to have been misplaced.
