Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca is waiting to finalise a move to Real Betis, who need to open space in their wage budget to complete a deal for him.
That’s according to AS, who say the Spaniard ‘has a deal in place’ with Betis to move there on loan this summer.
We covered a report yesterday that stated Roca’s departure from Leeds was seen as ‘imminent’ after the Whites and Betis agreed to a loan deal for him.
AS now pick up on that and explain that Betis can sign Roca on loan because of an agreement in his current contract that states he can depart at no cost as long as the club signing him take on his wages in full.
That’s the current problem for Betis as Roca’s wages packet ‘is not low by any means’ after spells at Bayern Munich and then Leeds.
Thus, Betis need to ‘make an effort’ in that department, as well as balancing the books to open up space in the wage structure.
They are working to get the deal done ‘as soon as possible’ but the secondary issue is the lack of leadership currently at Leeds.
As they are in the process of reorganising their sporting management following relegation, and a takeover to boot, there is nobody to deal with transfers and Roca’s agent has taken up the role as ‘interlocutor’ in the interim.
