Barcelona are ‘working on the incorporation’ of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Adama Traoré, if Ousmane Dembélé decides against signing a new deal at the Camp Nou, according to Sport.
The Frenchman’s current deal expires in June and the La Liga side are struggling to tie him down to a new contract. Should he not renew, his employer will look at the Premier League winger.
Barca’s sporting leaders consider the Spain international’s profile an ‘optimal one’ to continue the quality of the squad, if Dembélé were to leave.
Nélson Semedo left Barca for Molineux in 2020, before Francisco Trincão followed him to Molineux [on loan] last summer. The Catalan club maintain a good relationship with Jorge Mendes and also with the English club.
This can help the Spanish club ‘facilitate the incorporation’ of their former player, who is still ‘good friends’ with the likes of Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Sergi Roberto. Xavi Hernández’s side even ‘positively valued’ signing Traoré before they took Ferran Torres.
Sport say Barcelona are considering using Trincão to lower the cost of the Wolves player. The Blaugrana, however, are not the only club looking at him as Tottenham Hotspur are in the picture and even contacted Traoré’s representatives.
Spurs could offer ‘high figures’ to Bruno Lage’s side, but including Trincão can help Barca lower the price tag for Traoré.
