It doesn’t matter if Lucas Torreira’s agent has said his client isn’t going anywhere this January, the rumours surrounding the Arsenal midfielder’s future continue to circulate.
Fiorentina remain the most interested side, as Corriere Fiorentino make it clear ‘the goal is always the same’.
It’s stated those in charge of transfers at the Serie A side ‘have already worked extensively to convince the player’, but Atlético Madrid ‘continue to hinder his departure’.
The belief is that Arsenal would be fine with a new ‘loan with a right of redemption’, which was the message put forward by Edu Gaspar not so long ago, but ‘until Atlético give their approval, Torreira remains a dream’.
This is all somewhat understandable since letting the Uruguayan go would leave a gap in Diego Simeone’s squad that would need to be filled, and why put yourself through that when you don’t have to until next summer?
Since the start of the season, Torreira has played 469 minutes of football in all competitions, spread out over 15 appearances, during which he has scored one goal and picked up one assist.
