On October 19th, Sport reported Manchester City’s Julián Álvarez had held talks with Barcelona over a potential transfer. Later that day, journalist Sebastian Srur stated Real Madrid also want to sign the Citizens star.
Los Blancos’ interest in the striker is backed up by Fichajes.net, who add that they are ‘willing to take a bold step’ to sign him.
It’s claimed Real Madrid are preparing a ‘substantial offer’ of around €100m to take the 23-year-old away from Manchester City.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side believe that with this offer, they would be in a better position to beat Barcelona for his signature. Fichajes.net say Real Madrid’s desire to secure the Argentina international’s services shows their ambition to bolster their squad with quality players.
They also insist he could be the ‘differential player’ which is why the La Liga giants are willing to offer €100m to Pep Guardiola’s side. With Barcelona also showing interest in the player, there could be ‘intense months’ ahead.
Álvarez has been the second choice, behind Erling Haaland, at Manchester City, and the report says the World Cup winner doesn’t rule out a move to have a more prominent role at another club.
Manchester City’s stance isn’t mentioned and it seems unlikely they will let go of the South American, who signed a new deal [until 2028] earlier this year.
