PSV Eindhoven will find it ‘difficult’ if Manchester United or any big clubs come offering ‘many millions’ for Cody Gakpo in January.

That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by PSV Fans, who say the interested parties will be impressed by the player’s ability to play in several positions.

Gakpo has been impressing for PSV again this season, with nine assists and 12 goals in 14 games in the Eredivisie so far.

That comes after a summer in which he was heavily linked with a move away from the Dutch side after he managed 21 goals and 15 assists in 47 games in all competitions last season.

Manchester United were one of the interested parties earlier this year, making an initial effort for him before pulling out of a potential deal and strengthening other areas.

They’ve remained interested, though, with reports making it clear that a move could be on the cards in January as they continue to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s side.

In the meantime, he is at the World Cup with the Netherlands, where he scored the opening goal in the 2-0 win over Senegal.

That highlighted him to an international audience and Eindhovens Dagblad report that PSV will find it increasingly difficult to keep hold of their star man in the coming months.

“If clubs of the calibre of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United come forward with many millions, it will be difficult to finish this season at PSV,” PSV Fans report the newspaper saying.

“Those clubs will have seen that Gakpo is not only a pure left winger but can also play at ten and can even play in the point of attack.

“Gakpo is now also on the map at the World Cup and now we are waiting for confirmation.

“If this follows in the coming games, PSV will have another huge task ahead of them in the winter break and a successor must be seriously looked at.”
