Atalanta have identified Birmingham City’s Jordan James as their main midfield target in the summer window, according to Tutto Atalanta.
The Serie A side showed keen interest in the 19-year-old in the winter market, but they weren’t willing to meet the €10m fee requested by the Blues. They could make another approach for him in the upcoming window.
James scored eight goals for Birmingham City in the recently concluded season.
The report says his ability to find the back of the net, technique and physicality are some of the qualities that make him an interesting option for La Dea.
Birmingham City have been relegated from the Championship and this opens the door for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to make a new attempt to sign James.
The Italian club are confident that Birmingham City now have to lower their demands, and they want to take advantage of the Blues’ relegation to sign the Wales international for a cheaper price.
James’ contract lasts until 2025, with an option for another year, and the report makes no mention of Birmingham City’s request or the fee Atalanta could offer for the Welshman.
