Real Betis are ‘waiting for West Ham’ to make a bid for Luiz Felipe, having been assured it was coming earlier this month.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who cover the situation around the defender amid a potential move this summer.
They explain that Real Betis have been ‘waiting for a week’, eight days to be more exact, for an offer to arrive from West Ham for the centre back.
The Hammers are believed to be keen on the Brazilian and each passing day of the window makes it look more likely that he will depart and give Betis some much needed funds.
His agents visited Betis and sporting director Ramón Planes’ office in the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol on July 5th and at that meeting made it clear that West Ham were showing ‘strong interest’ in the player.
They demanded permission to open negotiations with West Ham and wanted to know what the asking price would be, with initial estimates set at €20m.
However, nothing has progressed from that point, with the situation on standby and reports in England claiming that the Hammers are just looking at Luiz Felipe as one of several options to reinforce their defence.
In the meantime, reports in Italy have brought Napoli into the mix as they seek out their replacement for Kim min-Jae.
They’ve not made a firm bid and nor have West Ham, despite the player’s agents making it clear over a week ago that the Hammers were ready to move, and they wanted to negotiate with them. Betis are still waiting for that to happen.
