Leeds United are looking well placed for promotion back to the Premier League and that will have a huge impact on their summer.
The Whites are currently two points clear of Sheffield United in second place and crucially have worked their way to be seven points clear of Burnley in third.
However, until promotion is confirmed there’s no clarity on what Leeds United will be able to do when it comes to buying players and renewing the contracts of others.
One player with an uncertain future is Junior Firpo, given his contract is expiring at the end of June.
Firpo has played 23 times for the Championship club this season, becoming a regular again recently. Any final decision on his future could be related to which division the club find themselves in next season.
The 28-year-old himself is taking steps regarding his future, having just changed agents. Alvaro Torres published an Instagram post which welcomed the Leeds United player to his You First agency.
There are now multiple reports in Spain, including from both Sport and Estadio Deportivo, talking up a return to Real Betis. That’s no great surprise, the fullback has been linked with a return to the club since not long after he left.
Betis aren’t impressed with Ricardo Rodriguez’s contribution since his arrival and that provides a space for Firpo.
Sport report Betis are ‘waiting for the right moment’ to pounce for the signing, and the club are said to be positive about getting a deal done.
