Earlier today, we covered a report from France stating that Kamaldeen Sulemana had decided to join Southampton over Everton.
The Saints had put forward a bid of €25m, which had been accepted by Rennes, but there is a slight issue that needs to be sorted before the player heads to England.
That’s according to RMC Sport, who state that the Ligue 1 side are ‘ready to accept’ the offers on the table for the Ghana international, who has struggled for regular minutes this season under Bruno Génésio.
That’s frustrating for Southampton, who appear to have won the race for his services, and they are now waiting for their French counterparts to sort out another transfer before getting their man.
The player Rennes are targeting is said to be Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, for whom a bid of €10m has already been rejected.
As for Southampton, it seems they simply have to wait for the time being, and hope that any deal to replace Sulemana is conducted very quickly.
Otherwise, they could find themselves in a precarious position, with the Ligue 1 club holding all the power at this moment in time.
