Real Betis are waiting for William Carvalho to depart the club before making a definitive swoop for Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who cover Carvalho today and how he is holding up a potential move for the Spanish midfielder.
The newspaper explains that Carvalho’s potential move to Saudi Arabia has been on hold for a few days but Betis’ plan is to speed things up so they can get on with their own business.
They will either sell to Saudi Arabia or other clubs who are interested in the Portuguese midfielder, with that sale set to provide them with funds and room in the salary accounts to add players to Manuel Pellegrini’s squad.
They want to replace Carvalho with Marc Roca, with that operation ‘advanced’ but lacking financial details to finalise it and get him out of Elland Road.
A deal has been mooted for most of this month, with Roca seemingly determined to leave Leeds following their relegation from the Premier League.
Indeed, it was reported five days ago that Betis were advancing on a move and Roca’s agents had travelled to Spain to work something out.
It seems the outline of that deal is now in place, but the Spanish side need to finalise Carvalho’s departure before they can move definitively.
