On August 24th, we covered a claim made by Sport that Chelsea have ‘transferred a last offer’ of €20m to sign Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

This is relayed in today’s edition of the same newspaper, who add the two clubs have still not found an agreement for the forward’s sale.

It’s said the La Liga side consider Chelsea’s €20m bid ‘insufficient’. They are tightening the rope to try to get more money from the Blues for the Gabon international.

Thomas Tuchel’s side, in principle, don’t want to raise their offer for the 33-year-old. On the other hand, Barca are trying to reach the figure of €30m they had initially asked for.

Chelsea could meet these demands, or at least come close by including bonuses to secure the former Arsenal man’s services.

Aubameyang wanted to continue at the Camp Nou and Xavi Hernández was in favour of this, however, both are aware of the Catalan club’s financial needs.

The player has ‘assumed that he will have to pack his bags to go to Stamford Bridge’. His exit is needed for Barcelona to register their big summer defensive signing, Jules Koundé.

Despite the differences, Sport say both Barca and Chelsea are ‘very clear’ they will end up reaching an agreement for Aubameyang.

The Blaugrana need urgent funds, while Tuchel has asked the Blues to sign Aubameyang.
