Having failed to take João Cancelo in January, Barcelona were successful in signing the Manchester City player on summer deadline day.
The 29-year-old was not included in Pep Guardiola’s plans this season and Mundo Deportivo say this helped the La Liga side to take him on a free loan deal.
It’s said the relationship between the Catalan club and Manchester City hasn’t been at its best since Xavi Hernández stated the Citizens blocked Cancelo’s move to the Camp Nou in January. This was then denied by both Pep Guardiola and the Citizens.
Mundo state Barca suspect the treble winners leaked information that they weren’t aware of the Catalan club’s approach for Cancelo in the summer, even though his agent, Jorge Mendes, had ‘everything tied up’ with Manchester City.
The Blaugrana were able to take the Portugal international but weren’t successsful in their efforts to sign his compatriot Bernardo Silva.
The newspaper explains that Manchester City were of the belief Barcelona didn’t have the capacity to complete a deal.
From the Camp Nou, they also complain Manchester City ‘tried to take away’ youngsters like Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde and Pau Cubarsí in the last window.
Due to those factors, Mundo say Barca are ‘upset’ with Manchester City, and are ‘bothered’ by ‘some attitudes and comments’ made by them throughout the summer window.
