On July 1st, Estadio Deportivo reported Real Betis have agreed personal terms with Leeds United’s Diego Llorente. Two days later, Mucho Deporte said they are negotiating the fee and payment methods with the Whites to sign the 30-year-old.
On Thursday, Diario de Sevilla stated Real Betis want to complete the deal for the Leeds player soon so that he can start pre-season training with them from July 8th.
AS indicate the centre-back is unlikely to arrive at the Andalusian club on Monday.
Real Betis intended to carry out a ‘lightning operation’ but instead it’s progressing at a ‘slow pace’.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side want to sign the former Real Sociedad man to strengthgen their defence. They are working on this case and the report says there are some issues that need sorting out.
The Championship side have already rejected the first offer, but Real Betis would continue to insist since the player wants to leave Elland Road.
Pellegrini prioritises having a new centre-back before the team travels to Austria next Wednesday. Llorente is unlikely to arrive by then since the negotiations aren’t progressing quickly.
Despite this, AS insist Real Betis are confident of securing the Leeds man’s services this summer.
