Dutch side Feyenoord cannot afford Luis Sinisterra’s relegation release clause at Leeds United and the Whites lowering their demands seems unlikely.

That’s according to journalist Lars Teunissen, who says it is unlikely the winger will be returning to his former club this summer.

Sinisterra is one of several players currently training alone at Leeds after making it clear he would like to join the exodus of players from Elland Road this summer.

There has been a major overhaul of Daniel Farke’s squad following relegation, with several first team players taking advantage of clauses in their contracts to leave either on loan or in permanent exits.

Sinisterra also has a release clause in his current contract but so far has remained where he is, with no clubs making a definitive move to sign him.

Feyenoord are one of those who are reportedly interested, with them keen to strengthen their forward line following their Eredivisie success last season.

Sinisterra remains a fan favourite at the club after a four-year spell at the club in which he scored 35 goals and registered 29 assists in 133 games for the club before his move to Leeds last summer.

The problem is money, according to Teunissen, who says the Dutch side simply don’t have the funds available to match Leeds’ demands.

“If you read that for the first time and then just as a football fan in itself, your heart will jump,” he said.

“So then (after a loan deal is rejected) it should be about buying. Sinisterra has a relegation clause in his contract. All Leeds players have that, but Feyenoord cannot afford it.

“Then negotiations will have to take place, but the chance is really nil that Leeds will let him go for an amount that Feyenoord can and wants to pay.”
