Breaking his ankle towards the end of October, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Willy Boly missed a large chunk of the already shortened 2019-20 season.

The Frenchman returned in early February for a 0-0 draw against Manchester United, and kept his place for the next four games, showing his importance in Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans.

However, he only has one year left on his current deal, which means he could be a prime target for clubs interested in an experienced centre-back this summer, like Lazio, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Serie A side, who currently sit second in Serie A, are on the lookout for a player like Boly, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of a potential Champions League campaign next season.

It’s explained Igli Tare, Lazio’s director of football, has been following the Wolves player since 2016, when he was still at Braga, but he chose to stay in Portugal with Porto.

The ‘giant’, as they refer to him, would provide both physicality and experience in Simone Inzaghi’s backline at an affordable price, since his contract expires in 2021.

But, and it’s a big one, they’ll first have to convince Wolves, and that might not be an easy task.
