The Portuguese media are still pushing the idea of Benfica’s Pele moving to Nottingham Forest on loan for the rest of the season. Pele broke his foot in the summer and since then has been recoving from the injury.
He’s only recently returned to training, and has been working with Benfica’s B squad. The 25 year old needs a solution for his future, and Nottingham Forest have been pushed forward as an idea.
It sounds like a gamble for Forest, and for the player. There’s no permanent manager at Nottingham Forest right now, and even though the club have approached Nigel Clough, it would be fair to say possibly signing Pele would have nothing to do with him.
Coming off the back of a serious injury, it doesn’t seem the wisest idea to sign for a new club, in a new country and with a new way of football.
The way it’s being covered in Portugal, by O Jogo and others, makes it sound like Benfica are looking for a club for Pele, and it would be them trying to push him to Nottingham Forest.
Pele and Clough at Nottingham Forest? On paper it looks good, especially if it were the 1970s.
