Ajax have been told to ‘do everything’ they can to bring Hakim Ziyech back to the club from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Ziyech is continuing to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the upcoming window, having failed to establish himself under Graham Potter since his arrival.
It’s a continuation of the Moroccan’s torrid time at Stamford Bridge, with the move from Ajax having failed to work out as optimists expected.
He arrived at the club in a €40m deal in July 2020, having been the star of the show for the Dutch side in the Eredivisie and the Champions League during his four years there.
Ziyech has not been able to replicate that with Chelsea, though, struggling to establish himself under Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel or Potter.
His tally of 14 goals and 10 assists in 92 games is a far cry from the 49 goals and 81 assists in 165 games for Ajax and numerous reports have made it clear that Chelsea are ready to get rid.
A move to Italy to join AC Milan has been mooted, as has a return to his former club, something analyst Willem van Hanegem believes would be a great idea.
“That would be a good choice,” Voetbal Primeur report him saying.
“It’s a very good comment. I would do everything in my power to bring him in. People think he is surly and arrogant, but he really is a great person.”
