Lyon’s efforts to hijack a Wolves deal for João Gomes have not pleased the Flamengo player.

The Premier League side’s €17m offer for the midfielder was accepted by Flamengo, but the latter changed their stance after Lyon came forward with €18m.

According to Globo Esporte, Wolves are ‘irritated’ with Flamengo’s decision to favour the Ligue 1 club over their proposal.

Julen Lopetegui’s side even considered withdrawing their offer, but continue to be in the race because they are still interested in hiring the 21-year-old.

Flamengo want Wolves to match Lyon’s bid, but they are reluctant to do it. As it stands, Gomes’ future is still not defined, which is why his employer have decided to reintegrate him into the squad.

Journalist Venê Casagrande says Lyon have received information from Flamengo that the player will ‘no longer be sold’ to Wolves. Their intention is to negotiate with the French club and this was conveyed by Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim to Lyon owner John Textor.

Coluna Do Fla relay Casagrande’s claim and add that Gomes needs to be convinced to join Lyon since he has maintained his desire to move to the Premier League. This should give Wolves hope as they still want to sign the Brazilian.

If Gomes refuses to accept Lyon’s offer and if he’s not allowed to join Wolves, he will have to continue at Flamengo.
