As well as looking to find a new striker to help and eventually take over from Ciro Immobile, Simone Inzaghi wants a new centre-back.
The idea here is that, with a potential qualification for the Champions League, the club will need extra experience in defence, and who better than a man who has won the competition?
Granted, Dejan Lovren didn’t play in the final against Tottenham, but he was part of Jürgen Klopp’s squad when Liverpool lifted the trophy last year, and he could be the ideal man to help Inzaghi’s men next season.
They could give him regular football, which he is sorely lacking at Anfield these days, and with just one year left on his contract, he wouldn’t be too expensive either.
Gazzetta dello Sport, who place the Croatia international in a list of four players Lazio are looking at, explain he is valued at around €15m, which is affordable, even for the Serie A side.
At this point, Lovren probably wouldn’t be too picky either, and if a team playing in Europe’s elite competition come knocking with some guarantees of regular first-team football, he’ll probably snatch it with both hands.
