Flamengo have now ‘opened talks’ with Chelsea for the transfer of Robert Kenedy, according to reports from Brazil.
A story from Globo Esporte today claims that the Rio de Janeiro side have made the ‘first official step’ for the signing by getting in touch with the Blues.
Flamengo’s ‘initial attempt’ is to get the player on a free loan with an option to buy, even though they’re said to be ‘flexible’ in case Chelsea ask for a fee.
Globo Esporte says the talks have been ‘intensified’ since last Friday by club officials Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel, who are in touch with Kenedy’s agent Evandro Ferreira and have the help of Giuliano Bertolucci, who’s labelled as ‘Chelsea’s representative in Brazil’.
Flamengo are reportedly trying to convince Chelsea that the move would be good for Kenedy to get a better value.
The player is spending his vacations in Rio de Janeiro, and even though he was set to present himself in London in the coming days, it’s possible that he resumes his training in Brazil as he waits for the move.
Globo Esporte recalls that Flamengo previously invited the player to treat an ankle injury at their facilities, but the Blues felt there was ‘no need’ for that.
That was just a way for the Brazilian side to show their interest in the player.
