Last summer, Arsenal allowed Nuno Tavares to go out on loan to Nottingham Forest and this move hasn’t worked out well for him so far.
The left-back has been restricted to three league games and hasn’t made an appearance in the Premier League since the end of August. Nuno Espírito Santo has handed him opportunities twice in the FA Cup earlier this month.
The lack of regular game time could see the Arsenal owned player leave the Tricky Trees this month.
L’Equipe state Marseille are thinking about the 23-year-old, as they are in the market for a new left-back.
The Ligue 1 side have sold Renan Lodi Al-Hilal and brought in Ulisses Garcia. The latter alone can’t solve the Ligue 1 side’s left-back issue and the focus was on Rennes’ Adrien Truffert.
This is a complex operation and therefore, the French club have particularly ‘taken an interest’ in Tavares. The two parties know each other well as the Arsenal man was on loan at Marseille last season, where he managed six goals from 39 games.
It’s claimed Tavares is ‘open to a departure’ in January and Marseille have discussed the possibility of bringing him back. L’Equipe say this option is ‘emerging with less difficulty than the other avenues’.
