The end of the transfer window was just a small relief for Benfica.
Interest in Victor Lindelof is still a serious subject in Portugal, and even a few days after the window was closed, the Lisbon club are in a hurry to protect the defender.
According to Diário de Notícias, Inter Milan will try to sign him again in January. And given the recent attempts from Chelsea and PSG, Benfica are already negotiating a new contract.
The defender currently earns €20k per month, one of the lowest salaries of the squad. This contract expires in 2020, with a release clause of €30m.
Now Benfica are planning to pay him €60k per month, with an extra year of contract and a clause of €45m.
It’s said that Lindelof’s agent Fali Ramadani has rejected Benfica’s first offer, which made the club suspect that he already has an agreement to take the player to another country.
The newspaper claims that Real Madrid and Manchester United have approached the defender too, which is just one more reason to tie him with a brand new contract.
