Galatasaray have emerged as a contender to sign Aston Villa’s Lucas Digne this summer.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the Turkish champions are in the market for a new left-back as they currently have Derrick Köhn as the only player in that position.
The Istanbul club want to provide manager Okan Buruk options in the left-back position, and they have now set their sights on the Aston Villa player.
It’s claimed Galatasaray’s intention is to sign the 31-year-old on a loan deal, and there’s no mention whether they want to include an option or obligation to buy as part of the deal.
This report was covered by journalists Santi Aouna and Aurélien Macedo, and Aouna took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to add that the Istanbul club have ‘submitted a loan bid’ to acquire Digne’s signature.
The Frenchman was a regular under Unai Emery last season as he made 46 appearances in all competitions. He has a contract at Aston Villa lasting until 2026.
Foot Mercato and Aouna make no mention of whether the Villans are open to letting Digne join Galatasaray on loan in this window. Emery and Aston Villa director Monchi will have to make a decision on the fullback.
