Once again left out of the squad at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers, Gustaf Lagerbielke really needs to find himself a new club.
The Sweden international has struggled to convince his manager this season despite starting the first five games of the campaign, and his snub against Ross Country might have been his last chance to impress.
Corriere dello Sport on Monday are reporting that Lecce are refusing to give up in their attempts to sign Lagerbielke this January.
The newspaper states the Italian club are ‘not changing their target’ in the last few days of the transfer window and are ‘still hoping to land’ the Swede before the end of the month.
However, they continue to struggle to find the money to pay his wages, which are ‘too high’ for them at this moment in time.
Therefore, they need Celtic to help them out a bit, and the deal could only be unlocked if the Scottish side ‘decide to contribute’ to it by covering some of his salary.
Whether that is something those above Brendan Rodgers are prepared to do isn’t said, but the closer to deadline day we get, the likelier something could get sorted, as it will be either a choice of Lagerbielke playing somewhere or sitting in the stands being paid a full wage.
