PSV Eindhoven ‘still hope’ to sign defender Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton on a permanent basis in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, who say the Dutch side remain keen on the youngster as he continues to impress in the Netherlands.
Branthwaite has been on loan with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side since the summer, when he departed Goodison Park to reunite with Marcel Brands, the man who originally signed him for Everton.
After a slow start, he has established himself in PSV’s defence, making 18 appearances in the Eredivisie, starting the last 10 in a row, as well as featuring in Champions League qualifying and the Europa League.
He’s been earning rave reviews for his displays and several reports have made it clear PSV would like to sign him permanently. They have also been urged to make that the case if there is a possibility to do so.
It seems that remains their intention, with Eindhovens Dagblad reporting that PSV ‘still hope to acquire’ the defender at the end of the season.
They make no mention of the figure they would be willing to pay or even if Everton are interested in sanctioning an exit, just that PSV intend to try and sign him.
Any decision is likely to be left until the end of the season and be dependent on if they’re still in the Premier League, but it seems their former Director of Football intends to ask the question anyway.
