A month ago, Portuguese newspaper Record showed up with a front page claiming Manchester United had placed a €60m offer for João Félix.
That offer was said to have been rejected, and Correio da Manhã then said the Red Devils made a new €70m bid, although that wasn’t backed up by other local sources.
It never sounded likely that Manchester United could get the signing done for that price, and Record is today again talking about Neves’ price this window.
This time, the newspaper writes Paris Saint Germain put €70m on the table, and that was far from enough to convince Benfica to make a deal.
It’s once again explained that the Eagles have the midfielder well protected by a €120m release clause, and they have no intention of giving big discounts.
That’s a clear message for both Manchester United and PSG, although we may still see what happens if those clubs get closer to €100m.
For now, Benfica are making it clear that Neves is a very important player for them and they won’t change their minds even with all that money on the table.
