A week ago to the day, it was announced in France that Nottingham Forest had made a move to try and sign Maxime Estève.

The centre-back is a target for Steve Cooper’s side, who have recently managed to hoist themselves out of the relegation zone, as they continue their attempts to climb up the table.

Shoring up the defence would go a long way, which is why Nottingham Forest appear to have targeted the Montpellier star, whose club are reluctant to part ways with after they turned down an €11m bid for him.

That is unless they can replace him, and L’Equipe in France hint that the arrival of Boubakar Kouyaté from Metz could go a long way in giving the green light to Estève’s move to City Ground.

It’s explained the Mali International is close to Montpellier, despite nothing being signed just yet, and it’s added that ‘this arrival could open the door’ to the 20-year-old’s exit to Nottingham Forest.

That’s an interesting turn of events for the Tricky Trees, who could very well end up getting their man, and all their fingers will be crossed for the Kouyaté transfer going through without a hitch.
